Track & Field News

The Track Dons have had a successful season thus far, while showing especially good performances over the course of the season's Tuesday Conference meets.  The Track Dons are hopeful that those good performances against conference opponents carries into the fast-approaching Conference Championship, which is going to be held on Thursday, May 13th, at Benedictine University, hosted by Benet Academy.

Among the Varsity team's best chances at scoring gold are Jack McAndrew in the 300m hurdles and Long Jump, Greg Leifel in the 1mile run, Joe Michels in the pole vault, and Mike Cunningham in the 400m dash. Julian Burgos, Josh Maloney, Tyler Tangney, Joe Cavanaugh and Connor Thomas will compete well in the sprints. McAndrew, Thomas and Joe Szukala will lead the jumpers. Leifel, Andy Bastian and Tim Curley will lead the distance runners.

Among the Frosh/Soph team's best chances at scoring gold are the 4x100m and 4x200m relays, made up of Nick Lato, Ryan Zoeller, Rocco Fagiano and David Contreras.  Throwers Colton Kelly, Sean Kane, Connor DeChant and Brendan Greene have a chance to sweep the shot put and discus throw. Matt Siemanowski is also in the hunt for gold in the 1mile.
The Track Dons head to Benedictine University this Saturday, May 8th for the prestigious Carlin Nalley Invite.  A Varsity only meet, the Dons will compete against many of the best track programs in northern Illinois... serving as a perfect tune-up meet for the Conference Championship.
