The Notre Dame College Prep's Athletic Club seeks...

What does the Club do with the money they raise?
The Athletic Club has purchased 2 buses that bring ND students to school each day and to athletic practices and games. We purchase uniforms, equipment, utility vehicles, weight lifting equipment, gym and wrestling mats, and nearly any equipment requested by ND coaches.
How has the Club raised money?
Since 2005, the Athletic Club has raised $588,000 to support all ND sports teams and clubs through its major fundraisers. These include: Football Mania, the Spring Fashion Show, Ad Books, 3-on-3 Basketball Tourney, Ad Banners on the fields, football game concessions, and patron donations.
How does the Club decide how to spend the money?
Mike Hennessey, the ND Athletic Director, the coaches of ND teams, and parents of ND athletes attend the Athletic Club meetings and make requests for specific equipment, uniforms, building improvements, or practice needs. Their requests must have a dollar amount estimate, bid or range. The Athletic Club board and members discuss the request and attempt to fulfill these requests as our budget allows. (We are still making ND bus payments into 2010.)
What are the most recent requests the Club has fulfilled?
The Athletic Club pledged $15,000 for the new goal posts, soccer goals, high jump and long jump pits in the stadium. We bought a new scoreboard for the gym, which cost over $18,000. We paid $5,000 for mats for the new varsity wrestling practice room at Maryville. We bought Father Smyth a new scooter chair so that he could coach the varsity football kickers. We pledged $5,000 to improve the locker rooms at ND. We helped pay for the sod to finish the baseball field. We have pledged this fall, if we have a successful Football Mania Fundraiser, another $15,000 to help blacktop the backstop area and finish the outer track area of the stadium. This last planned expenditure is our contribution to the Capital Campaign as we work with the Campaign Committee along with Father Smyth and Father Klees.
Who runs the Athletic Club?
Parents of current ND athletes serve as officers of the Athletic Club. Members of the Athletic Club include other parents, alumni, alumni parents, and ND staff. All parents of ND students are welcome to attend meetings. Past presidents include Andy Czahor and Al Weel. We need all parents to help keep ND sports program opportunities the best they can be for our student athletes!
