Good morning, Notre Dame. Please stand for our Morning Prayer and Pledge of Allegiance.
As we prepare for the celebration of Pentecost, this Sunday, we pray:
Come, Holy Spirit, fill the hearts of your faithful. Enkindle in them the fire of your love. Send forth your Spirit, and they will be created. And you will renew the face of the earth.
We read from St. Paul’s letter to the Galatians. “The fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness, self-control. If we live in the Spirit, let us also follow the Spirit. Let us not be conceited, provoking one another, envious of one another.”
We pray for the repose of the soul of junior Mike Jimenez’ grandfather. We continue to pray for all the sick and suffering members of our community, especially the father of Coach Genovesi, Kay McAndrew, the Mother of Mrs. Karlowicz, Helen Quigel, Mother of Mr. Ernie Quigel, Mr. Harry Achino (an alumnus dad), John Paluch (‘78), Mr. Tom Brand, the father of senior Kevin and sophomore Brian Brand, for those who are most in need of seeing the presence of God in their lives, and for all the people listed in our Book of Intentions.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
Fill me with the fruits of your Spirit, Lord.
•
Fill me with kindness, so that I take the extra time to help the one in need, even when it is not convenient for me.
•
Fill me with faithfulness, so that I place my mind, heart, and all that I do in the service of your Gospel.
•
Fill me with gentleness, so that others know that I believe in a God who loves and cares for all people.
•
Fill me with self-control, so that I act not on my impulses and urges, but rather on my beliefs and values, which are rooted in you.
Fill me with these fruits of your spirit, Lord! Amen.
Notre Dame…pray for us.
In the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. Amen.
The very last thing Jesus said before He ascended to the Father was, to paraphrase, “You will receive power when you receive the Holy Spirit, and this will enable you to be witnesses of Me.” Through the giving of the Holy Spirit, Christ's disciples would have the necessary means to be lights to the world and to demonstrate a way to live that glorified God. Be Dons of Pentecost! . . . and, see you in church this Sunday.
I pledge allegiance to the flag of the United States of America, and to the republic for which it stands: one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.
