Thanks to our generous donors/participants from the annual Alumni Golf Outing and the Annual Smoker plus various donors. The Alumni Association has been able to steadily increase its scholarship program to new heights! In the past last seven years alone, over $500,000 has been raised and awarded in tuition assistance scholarships to the Dons!

Rev. Joseph C. Stroot, CSC was a highly regarded Notre Dame educator from 1955 until his death in 1995. The Rev. Joseph C. Stroot Memorial Award for Distinguished Service is presented by the Notre Dame College Prep Alumni Association to an alumnus of Notre Dame College Prep who models Fr. Stroot’s life of leadership, service, loyalty and dedication to the traditions and mission of Notre Dame College Prep. This year’s award recipient is an outstanding Notre Dame College Prep alumnus, a devoted supporter of the school and a former student of Fr. Joseph Stroot. During his four years at Notre Dame, he was a member of the Student Council, National Honor Society, Young Christian Students, Jugglers, and was also the recipient of the Maridon Senior Awards for Service, and the school newspaper, FOCUS award. After graduation, he attended Loyola Chicago for undergrad studies and furthered his education with a law degree and an MBA. He became a very successful CEO traveling from Chicago to Europe and the Far East. He continued his ties with Notre Dame throughout his life by co-chairing his 50th and 60th reunions and establishing an endowed scholarship in his mother’s name, as well as being the lead organizer for his Class Legacy Scholarship for the Dons. He’s a member of Notre Dame’s prestigious Hall of Honor, and a loyal participant of the Ray Gorzynski Golf Outing. This year’s 2023 alumnus recipient of the Fr. Joseph Stroot, CSC Memorial Award for Distinguished Service is John Zei from the Class of 1962.
