The "Invest in Kids" Act
Illinois Income Tax Credit Information
You may have heard by now that the State of Illinois "Invest in Kids Act" has created a Tax Credit Scholarship Program. Donors can earn a 75% state income tax credit for their donation to a qualified Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO). An SGO is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization approved by the Illinois Department of Revenue. The primary goal of an SGO is to award scholarships to qualifying students. If desired, an individual may direct their contribution to Notre Dame College Prep.
If someone you know wants information on this program, feel free to forward this information
As always, we recommend that you consult with a tax professional to see whether making a gift to an SGO or directly to Notre Dame College Prep will be best for your fiscal needs. However, in light of the time that may be required to secure the necessary tax numbers from the state government, we recommend that you take the following steps now to ensure you are able to utilize this giving vehicle if you wish.

MORE QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS
Who benefits from this program?
Dons whose household income is below 300 percent of the federal poverty level ($73,800 for a family of four) are eligible to receive a scholarship. Priority is given to those whose household income falls below 185 percent of the poverty level ($45,510 for a family of four).
How does it help NDCP?
It is important to know that more than 10% of NDCP students will qualify for these funds. We are working with them to maximize the chance that they will receive this benefit, but only by designating your donation to NDCP can we be certain of it. Presently, these qualifying Dons utilize more than one-third of our entire financial aid budget.
What if I already have a scholarship at NDCP?
Federal and state tax guidelines require that gifts made through this program must be new gifts, and therefore cannot count toward an existing pledge.

Most importantly, if this all seems overwhelming, rest easy. The most flexible means by which you can help the Dons is still by making a heartfelt gift directly to Notre Dame College Prep!
